The School Year has BEGUN!
Monday Lunch Fellowship: Our first Monday Lunch was on the day of the solar eclipse. We hosted 42 students throughout lunch. It was so great to see students again, meet friends of students and meet new freshman and transfer students. We ordered more pizza half way through. We gave out solar glasses and students circulated in and out of the building taking glances at the eclipse through their glasses.
Thursday Evenings: The first Thursday Dinner and Discussion was a great beginning to a semester with 17 students in attendance. The evening began with a cook-out, included an overview of the semester ahead and concluded with communion.
Small Groups: Four of our upper-class students, two males and two females, are gearing up to lead freshman and sophomore small groups. We have added a new gathering space with couches in the game room, which will be the perfect place for these groups to meet.
Ministry with Food: We continue to make food available to students daily. This hospitality and feeling of a home kitchen and living room is fundamental to our mission to students.
Sorority Recruitment Support: Before students arrived on campus, we offered sorority recruitment survival care packages to incoming freshman, with whom we had made summer connections, and to young women who are part of our ministry as they led events in their own sororities. We were glad to make these personal connections leading up to a very busy week.
